Shichahai, Beihai, Jingshan Park & Ming Hutong in Only Half Day
Shichahai is a famous scenic area in the northwest part of Beijing, which includes three lakes (Qianhai, meaning Front Sea; Houhai, meaning Back Sea and Xihai, meaning West Sea), surrounding places of historic interest and scenic beauty, and remnants of old-style local residences, Hutong and Courtyard. The video to the left introduces a highly effective travel route that allows you to visit pretty much all must-sees (Shichahai, Beihai, Jingshan Park and Ming Hutong) in half day.
Beihai Park, a public park and former imperial garden between the Forbidden City and Zhongnanhai (the headquarters for the Communist Party of China and the State Council – Central Government)
The Jingshan Park, it was a royal landscape garden just behind the forbidden city, and it was the highest point in Beijing before the end of Qing Dynasty so the emperor can get a full and clear view of his entire palace.
In 1644, Chongzhen, the last emperor of the Ming Dynasty hanged himself on this spot.
Beijing is such a great modern city but full of ancient history. This place shown in these pictures was built in 1267, the same time when the palace of Yuan Dynasty was constructed, it was a component of market and residential area, it is right now preserved by the Chinese government and becomes a historical pedestrian “mall”.
