Beijing Roast Duck and Birthday!
My cousin is going to take the National Higher Education Entrance Examination next week (the annual exam for college entrance), we had a family dinner today to cheer him up. My uncle chose a roast duck restaurant because I told him I had not tasted the roast duck for many years and I missed it badly. It is often said that if you are in Beijing, there are essentially two things that you must do; one is to climb the Great Wall, and the other is to eat the Peking roast duck. With a history of more than 600 years, Peking roast duck is the most famous gourmet cuisine of Beijing and one of the most popular foods in China. The duck is always served in thin, well-cut slices. The whole duck has to be sliced into 120 pieces exactly and diners consume it with light pancakes, sliced cucumbers, green onion and a variety of sauces, which are perfect complements to the dish. What you eat is actually not the duck meat, but its crispy skin.
